Following the initial spike in online purchases after recent tariff announcements, new data may indicate a cooling trend, with key categories starting to normalize and others reflecting cutbacks in non-essential spending.

Here's what we're seeing (as of April 17, 2025):

  • Sales are still elevated for some categories – Home Improvement & International Marketplaces (e.g., Temu, Shein) are above YTD averages
  • Electronics stockpiling is easing – sales & prices return to pre-tariff levels
  • Discretionary spend is softening – especially in Airlines, Ride Share, and Food Delivery categories
